Hopes were high for a resounding comeback in IPL 2025, but Lucknow Super Giants coach Justin Langer delivered some disheartening news. Yadav, already recovering from a back injury that sidelined him since October 2024, has suffered another setback, delaying his return even further.

A Freak Accident Compounds Injury Concerns

In a bizarre turn of events, Yadav's recovery was derailed not by a strenuous training session, but by a simple household accident. He kicked his toe against his bed, leading to an infection that has pushed his rehabilitation back by several weeks. Langer revealed this unfortunate incident ahead of LSG's opening match against the Delhi Capitals.

"Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year... kicked his toe on the bed," Langer explained. "He got an infection in his toe. It's put his rehab back about a week or two weeks."

Despite this setback, Langer remains optimistic. "He's up and running. We regularly see videos of him bowling...So, hopefully by the back end of the tournament, Mayank will be up and ready to go for us."

Lucknow Super Giants Grapple with a Bowling Crisis

Yadav's absence adds to LSG's growing list of injured pace bowlers. Mohsin Khan has been ruled out for the entire season and replaced by Shardul Thakur. Avesh Khan and Akash Deep are also nursing injuries, leaving the team's bowling attack significantly depleted.

Langer provided updates on the other injured bowlers, stating, "Unfortunately, Mohsin sustained a small calf injury... Avesh Khan will pass his right to play... Akash Deep is up and running, and bowling at about 90% now."
