India cricketers to curb family time on tour after Australia defeat
Cricket Family Time Capped in India
Discipline on the Pitch
The Indian cricket board has tightened its grip on players' family time while on tour as part of a disciplinary crackdown following a string of test match defeats.
Families can now only spend a maximum of two weeks alongside players during 45-day or longer overseas tours.
BCCI's Hammer Comes Down
"Star culture" within the team has been blamed for recent failures, leading to a zero-tolerance policy for separate travel arrangements or skipping practice sessions. Players must also participate in domestic cricket to qualify for national selection.
Quote from the Legend
"The cricket board needs to stop acting like admirers and put their foot down," said former Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar.
Captains Under Fire
Captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli have faced criticism for poor performances. Rohit missed a crucial win in Australia due to the birth of his child, while Kohli has struggled to score runs consistently.
Focus on Cohesion
"Separate travel arrangements are discouraged to maintain discipline and team cohesion," the board emphasized. "All team members are required to stay for the entire duration of the scheduled practices.".
England Test Tour Next
India's next test tour is scheduled for June in England, where they will face off against the home team in five matches. The new disciplinary measures will be put to the test on the English soil.
